November meeting in Leicester

We had a great forum meeting yesterday at the Leicester Royal Infirmary organised by Clare Archer. Clare had arranged for Prof Simon Conroy, Consultant Geriatrician, to come and talk to us. Simon got us all thinking about frailty and CGA. He also facilitated us to develop an “elevator pitch” to convince a colleague from a different speciality what value we, as ANPs in Geriatrics, can add to his/her patients. This really did get our brains working! Jonny Dexter has agreed to write this discussion up to go on this site.

After Simon left we agreed a more formal format for these meetings to maximise their value for the group and we had a chat about developments in our areas.

Thanks to Simon and Clare.

The next meeting will be on 15 February at King’s Mill Hospital. Hope to see you there.

Leicester meeting, November 2015

There was a forum meeting this week on 11 November in Leicester. I unfortunately couldn’t attend the meeting, but was informed that there was an excellent teaching session from Dr Richard Wong, Consultant Geriatrician from UHL, on prescribing. A full post about the meeting will follow on this website, in the meantime the presentation from Dr Wong can be viewed here.
